TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 Space X Watch

TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 Space XI always wanted to be an astronaut when I was growing up. And also currently now that Mars is on the table. But, lamentably, I lack the physical fitness,¬†mathematical¬†nous, height, dedication, sobriety and knowledge of the planetary systems to have made it big at NASA. Their loss. Anyway, I might not be able to be an astronaut spaceman but I can wear a watch inspired by space travel. Namely, the TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 Space X watch above. Released to commemorate the first Swiss watch in space (quite the accolade), this awesome luxury timepiece is a representation of the watch worn by astronaut (and all-round good egg) John Glenn as he piloted the spacecraft “Friendship 7” (badass name for a ship) on its triple orbit of the earth in 1962. There’s no doubting the awesomeness of this watch and the fact its got a cool backstory increases its stock still further in my book. I need this watch in my life. And ¬£5,000 in my bank to facilitate this.

John Glenn TAG Heuer Watch

This is the original watch worn by John Glenn – the perceptive amongst you may notice a few missing hands. Time works differently in space. And also it’s a stopwatch.
